R.U.S.E. - Beta: Play It, It's Free (Beta extended) IT'S OVER MAN, IT'S OVER

Seems like this RTS has won the hearts of many of our members hanging out in mumble. As such, they recommend you try it out too.

R.U.S.E. (download it here) is an almost board-game style RTS that puts you in a top-down commander-style view of a vast battlefield. When you zoom in, however, the view changes and what were once set pieces on a large model-table become real tanks and infantry battling in the field.

One of the greatest things about R.U.S.E. is the scale. Everything that happens on the battlefield comes from somewhere -- artillery shells don't just fly in from off the map, they come from your own battleships or stationary cannons, even if they're positioned several miles away. Another great aspect is its rock-paper-scissors unit balance system which lets you see how your troops will fair up against an enemy before you tell them to attack.

Finally, perhaps the most interesting part of the game is how you can use the terrain and your commander abilities effectively. To start the game, you're given access to a number of "ruses" which can be used to distract the enemy, reveal his units, make your units more effective in the field, or mask your units entirely. If you combine these ruses with effective attacks, you can create some awesome deceptions and may end up wiping out a large portion of your enemy's army with just a few well-trained, well-positioned troops that you've sneaked through enemy lines.

The game's set to release on June 8th, and it looks like one that quite a lot of us are sure to pick up...

In case you've been late for things the past couple days...

Daylight Saving Time (or summertime as it is called in many countries) is a way of getting more light out of the day by advancing clocks by one hour during the summer. During Daylight Saving Time, the sun appears to rise one hour later in the morning, when people are usually asleep anyway, and sets one hour later in the evening, seeming to stretch the day longer.
The reason DST works is because its saves energy due to less artificial light needed during the evening hours—clocks are set one hour ahead during the spring, and one hour back to standard time in the autumn. Many countries observe DST, and many do not.

Note: Between March–April through September–November, it is summer in the northern hemisphere, where many countries may observe DST, while in the southern hemisphere it is winter. During the rest of the year the opposite is true: it is winter in the northern hemisphere and summer in the southern.

Benjamin Franklin first suggested Daylight Saving Time in 1784, but it was not until World War I, in 1916, when it was adopted by several counties in Europe that initially rejected the idea.

Awesome Dan (aka. Twin) vs. Captain Morgan

On Thursday the 25th of February HoB was witness to an epic battle of life and death. The stage was set on http://www.livestream.com/silencertv, twin's newly established CamWhore channel.

The combatants:

A epic Battle, lasting more then 4 hours, ensued and only one has stood victorious...

As the clock struck midnight and Thursday was spent, so was one more handle of Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum as Awesome Dan stood triumphant over the empty shell of his enemy. Morgan had been defeated, but at what cost? Scared from battle, Awesome Dan dragged himself to the kitchen floor bleeding what we could only assume to be pure liquor and bile before eventually being found by his wife who promptly notified poison control. He was rushed immediately to the hospital in what he describes as an "amber-lamps" and was admitted with a Blood Alcohol Content of 1.231. After a successful stomach pumping and plenty of painkillers, he was returned home later that night such that he might live to drink another day.

You're a Hero to us all, Dan. Get well soon.
